Justin Gimelstob Blog

Justin Gimelstob is one of the well known tennis player. He has said somethings about the American tennis men who are ready to compete seriously during the Clay Court Season. In the latest entry of Justin Gimelstob's blog he has mentioned about is upcoming tournaments and the Road to Roland Garros.

In the blog entry it’s written as:

American players are raised to focus on building weapons and finding ways to attack and win points. Clay-court tennis puts a premium on defense and manipulating your opponent into low-percentage positions where he will eventually lose the point.

And also has said”

South Americans and Europeans who grew up on clay have such an overwhelming advantage because of years of practice combining the movement and the patience of developing a point that we Americans can't learn in a crash course.

"Jimmy Snuka"

The last weeks show started with a video recap of the Randy Orton vs. Triple H feud which then led to a game of Cat and Mouse and Sledgehammers that brought the close of the show. Jimmy Snuka was the guest of honor at the ceremony.

It was Live in the arena, which had a pyre display to open the show. It must be a good financial quarter so far. Michael Cole announced that the championship decision will be made tonight by Randy Orton.

In the ring Jerry Lawler was feeling giddy about making the announcement for tonight's biggest main event ever on RAW. Straight from intervening of GM Vickie Guerrero's office is that the Edge defends the World Title tonight against John Cena.

On the stage it was a Piper's Pit where the bagpipe music was interrupted by Chris Jericho's music. That’s when Jericho slowly made his entrance on to the stage and stared into the crowd. Jericho said that he is been berated by the fans for so long that he had to take Piper's segment for himself. He went to a video from July 1984 to show Piper playing to Jimmy Snuka's stereotypes before nailing him with the coconut. Sorry, but this will always remind me of Jay Lethal. Cut back to Jericho, who introduced his guest tonight, Superfly Jimmy Snuka.

India vs New Zealand Cricket T20 Match was held in Christchurch which was played on February 25, 2009. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first making India to open the tour of New Zealand.

Match referee: Ranjan Madugalle(SL)
Match Umpires: Gary Baxter(NZ) , Evan Watkin(NZ)
Third Umpire: Tony Hill(NZ)

The NewZealan team had Brendon McCullum, Jesse Ryder, Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, Jacob Oram, Nathan McCullum, Daniel Vettori (captain), Ian Butler, Tim Southee, N. Broom Iain O'Brien.

The team of India was: Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma

Sehwag pulled out the costliest 1st over in intl T20 (19 runs) with 3 huge sixes off his 1st 3 deliveries faced. In fact, the Indians whacked 13 6’s in contrast to a total of 6 fours, while appearing that they too believed in the crush-em hype riding this tour. Could have been a humbling 1st knock in NZ for India, had it not been for Raina picking things up right at the end. Yusuf Pathan also strutted his stuff with 3 huge blows before Jacob Oram did what Adam Voges did during the Aus vs NZ T20 game to end Yusuf’s quest for six sixes in an over.

The result was India scored 162. With Suresh Raina 61 (43) runs. And NZ won the match with ease with Brendon McCullum scoring 56, Guptill 41 (28), Ross Taylor 31 (20), Jacob Oram 29 (15)

Matt Kenseth Won The Daytona 500 after NASCAR

Matt Kenseth the driver of the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford won the rain-shortened 51st running of the Daytona 500 after NASCAR stopped the event 48 laps from the scheduled distance.

"Just to win a race after our season last year -- I didn't know if we were ever going to be able to do that again," said Kenseth and also added "To win the Daytona 500 is unbelievable.”

It was the first victory of both Kenseth's and team owner Jack Roush's in NASCAR's biggest race.

Roush said "We've been here for more than 20 years trying to do this thing," "I even got so conditioned for being frustrated through it that I was almost not believing that it would happen. I will be black and blue for the next couple of days from pinching myself just to make sure I'm not dreaming."

It was a dream come true for Kenseth the No. 17's crew chief Drew Blickensderfer, who labeled his first race for Kenseth on Sunday. Batting 1-1 has Blickensdorfer pondering his future.

"I'm thinking if we don't win the first practice at California, it's a failure," said Blickensderfer in the post-race press conference.

"Some guys having some bad days and not doing their best made their bad day, our bad day," said Busch.

NASCAR called the race on lap 152, 17 minutes after they brought the cars down pit road, the red flag displayed after rain showers descended on the track. The rain which had been forecasted for a few days had arrived after 6 p.m. after the start of the race.

The quick ending trapped several drivers in the pack after others ventured to chance into a Daytona 500 win. Tony Stewart led 15 laps, Jeff Gordon (14 laps) and Mark Martin (1 lap) all were charging back through the field and likely would have battled Kenseth and others for the win.

Stewart finished 8th, Gordon 13th and Martin 16th, Jimmie Johnson had mediocre outing in his first race back from winning three-straight NASCAR titles with a 31st-place finish.

The rest of the Top-5 was 2007 winner Kevin Harvick, A.J. Allmendinger, Clint Bowyer and Elliott Sadler. David Ragan, Michael Waltrip, Stewart, Reed Sorenson and Kurt Busch ronded out the Top-10.

USA Soccer With The U.S Men

The U.S men are heading into a World Cup qualifier against Mexico in Columbus, Ohio, and are the preeminent power in its region. Mexico was ruling the rest in CONCACAF (the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football), but the power has shifted from 2000.

Mexico has a 27-5-9 record against the United States with a difference in goal by plus 70. But since 2000, the United States is 9-2-2 in the series, outscoring Mexico 20-6.

The U.S. team is ahead of Mexico in the last round of World Cup qualifying in the 2002 World Cup and is 8-0-2 in its last 10 matches against the Mexicans in the States. Mexico had a grip in the final round of this year’s qualifying and was ahead of Jamaica on goal differential.

U.S. coach Bob Bradley acknowledged his team is now on the top in CONCACAF and said “We’re very proud of that accomplishment,” Bradley said in a conference.

Mexico midfielder Antonio Naelson said “There’s too much noise for a team that’s not true,”, “They might be the favorites in the game due to playing at home, but for me, Mexico is better as a team.”

Selena Roberts Was Stalking A-Rod

Alex Rodriguez did the precise thing by coming clean about the usage of performance enhancing drugs during his time with the Texas Rangers from 2001 to 2003 and he seemed direct and true in his interview with Peter Gammons. Among the countless of interesting things A-Rod commented about the well known journalist Selena Roberts as:

“This lady has, 5 days ago, been thrown out of the University of Miami by police for trespassing. 4 days ago, she tried to break into my house while my girls are up there sleeping, and got cited by the Miami Beach Police. I have the paper here. And this lady’s coming out with all these allegations, all these lies, because she’s writing an article for Sports Illustrated, and she’s coming out with a book in May, and really respectable journalists are following this lady off a cliff, and following her lead. And that’s really unfortunate. “

Selena Roberts one of the distinguished journalist and reported in Alex Rodriguez case which led him admit that he used Steroids. The allegation of A-Rod was replied by Selena Roberts as:

“The allegations made by Alex Rodriguez are absurd,” “I’ve never set foot in the lobby of Alex’s New York apartment building, never spoken to the University of Miami police, and never set foot on his home property or been cited by the Miami Police for doing so.”

The Beanpot Champions

Boston University became the country’s No. 1 ranking when they took a goal in the final two minutes and a Harvard goal which came a second late for the Terriers to separate themselves from an energetic Harvard squad, 4-3.

If the coaches and analysts need more evidence then the Beanpot Tournament exists outside the territory of the rest of the college hockey season, the first game of the 2009 tournament provided the same.

Harvard were in the lead when Michael Biega slipped a mild shot under goalie Kieran Millan, silencing the B.U. fans. It became more quite after Alex Killorn took a two-man advantage to open the second and gave Harvard a 2-0 lead.

The most exciting third period was a outbreak of action when the B.U. juniors began their play. Zach Cohen squeaked a low-angle shot past Harvard goalie Matt Hoyle to give the Terriers their first lead. Crimson center Pier-Olivier Michaud showed his power-play goal three minutes later, but Terriers winger Jason Lawrence scored on a hard shot from the left face-off circle that proved to be the game-winner and that was a call for the celebration

Alex Biega’s shot beat Millan blocker-side, but the puck crossed the line more than a second after the clock ran out. The Northeastern fans turned their attention towards the overwhelmed Boston College, the defending Beanpot champions.

Santonio Holmes - The Hero Of Super Bowl MVP

The Steelers Beat Arizona from 27-23 and there was a great contribution from the Pittsburgh wide receiver Santonio Holmes who was the MVP in Super Bowl XLIII with his jaw-dropping touchdown catch.

Holmes took a pass from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who lofted the ball towards the right corner and with just 35 seconds remaining of the game, capping a nine-reception, 131-yard performance. Homes leaped, he extended his arms and used his toes as an extra extension to catch up to the ball.

Holmes was terrific with nine catches for 131 yards; four of them on the winning 78-yard drive. He has outshined his teammate James Harrison, who seemed to be a shoe-in for the MVP award through three quarters. And the officials announced it as the "TouchDown" and Holmes sat for several seconds, looking down at the ball.

And then came the team who poured over him and celebrating the victory. It is definitely going to be the Super bowl history.
